Stillbirth, miscarriage, and child loss
Either you are here because your baby just died, or it has been a bit and you don’t feel “like yourself.” Or maybe someone has suggested that you are stuck in your grief.
In either situation I am sorry that you are here. I wish you didn’t feel the need to seek help. I know how much you wish you had your baby.
I understand baby loss. I have lived through saying goodbye to my daughter.

Postpartum depression and anxiety
It is not uncommon to experience the “baby blues” after having a baby. It seems true that even the best birth experiences can result in the baby blues.
If you are experiencing the blues lasting longer than two weeks, or are experiencing higher levels of anxiety, please reach out for help. It is estimated that up to 20% of new moms experience postpartum depression. This is not something you can talk yourself out of.

Grief and loss
There just isn’t a good term to use for how we feel when we lose someone, or something. The loss is often too overwhelming to put into words.
After losing my daughter through stillbirth I have found a new calling to help the traumatically grieved. I believe that we can carry our grief and find life again. That we will find a new normal.

Teens
Raising a teenager is a rewarding and sometimes challenging task. As much as we know our kid we sometimes have no idea what is going through their minds. Sometimes it is just really hard to communicate with them.
Girls between the ages of 12 and 17 who are feeling suicidal increased by 26% during the summer months of 2020 and by 50% during the winter of 2021. These statistics are sobering.
I enjoy working with teens through the struggles of being a teen: of feeling not heard, not understood, and often feeling really confused. Sometimes what parents recognize as lack of respect, or acting out behavior, is really a sign of depression.

Individuals
I often hear that people think that they “should” be able to manage what life is offering them. That if they can’t manage it then they appear weak. I would suggest that realizing life sometimes offers up situations that can be overwhelming is not a sign of weakness but of strength. Realizing when it is appropriate to ask for help shows great strength and insight.
I work with many issues including depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. Sometimes there is just a general sense of feeling “stuck.” If you feel that you might need someone to help “figure it out,” then you might want to make an appointment for a consultation.

CAMFT Certified Supervisor
Helping the next generation of therapists grow into their potential is one of the most rewarding parts of my work. For the last few years I have taught in the Graduate Psychology program at Azusa Pacific University, and when I am not in my therapy office you will find me mentoring and supervising associates.
As a CAMFT Certified Supervisor, I offer clinical supervision for associates working toward licensure. I have been licensed since 2004, and I bring that experience, along with a lot of encouragement, to every supervision relationship.
I offer supervision via telehealth, and I currently have openings.
